Founder-led studio
Synaptic Geometry is an independent research-led practice founded and led by Simon David Porcella. Specialist collaborators may join where a work benefits from another craft.
Simon David Porcella
Founder & Chief ScientistThe practice joins software engineering with mathematics, philosophy, music, and visual culture. Simon works directly across research, architecture, interaction, and delivery, carrying an idea from its first uncertain questions into a coherent public system.
This is deliberately close work: people shaping a project speak with the person shaping its system. The scale is honest, the responsibility is direct, and every application remains connected to the wider research of Synaptic Geometry.
Interactive Technical Resume
The resume below is formatted as a four-page technical document, hosted directly on AWS S3 to demonstrate document rendering performance.
SIMON DAVID PORCELLA
FOUNDER • CLOUD & AI ARCHITECT • SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER • AUTHOR
PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Founder, technical architect and senior full-stack engineer working across secure cloud platforms, distributed systems, artificial intelligence and document-centred software. Combines enterprise delivery experience in energy, retail, banking, healthcare technology and industrial environments with founder-led research and product development at Synaptic Geometry AI. Brings an unusual but disciplined synthesis of software engineering, mathematics, philosophical analysis and music-theory authorship to problems that require both formal structure and interpretive depth.

FOUNDER-LED TECHNOLOGY WORK
Melbourne, Australia • Independent venture, concurrent with professional engagements
- Established the technical direction for a founder-led AI company focused on high-integrity systems for complex documents, auditable reasoning and secure cloud infrastructure.
- Designed an AWS-first, multi-cloud platform architecture spanning application delivery, network and identity boundaries, TLS termination, domain and email infrastructure, CI/CD, AI services and data workflows; incorporated Azure and GCP where their managed AI and data capabilities were the stronger fit.
- Architected full-stack and multi-agent application patterns using React / Next.js, Node.js, .NET, Python and LangChain, with product concepts centred on evidence workspaces, private document workflows and learning-transformation tools.
- Developed secure AWS patterns across VPCs, security groups, Application Load Balancers, EC2, IAM, Route 53, SES and certificate management, including decisions about public TLS termination and private service-to-service encryption.
- Built supporting Azure engineering capability across Azure AI Studio / Machine Learning, Key Vault, Container Registry, Azure DevOps pipelines and private npm packages; retained GCP Vertex AI, TensorFlow and data-pipeline capability within the wider architecture.
- Defined the company’s product and service pathways, translating original research into bounded offerings for AI assurance, document-workflow pilots and fractional AI / cloud architecture leadership.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Melbourne, Australia
- Maintain and extend EOS, an enterprise energy-trading platform supporting operational decision-making across generation assets.
- Re-engineered role-based authorisation assertions through Active Directory, strengthening the platform’s access-control model.
- Integrated weather-forecast data for energy plants and delivered non-operating-hours functionality for gas-turbine assets.
- Work within a mature .NET 4.7 estate using WPF and WCF, balancing new capability with the reliability requirements of a business-critical platform.
Melbourne / Remote
- Developed Google Cloud data pipelines and large-scale data-warehouse workflows supporting a recommendations engine.
- Designed and implemented backend API microservices across .NET Framework 4.7 and .NET 7, with Angular 12 front-end components.
- Worked across data engineering and full-stack delivery, producing system and design documentation for complex integrations.
Melbourne, Australia
- Maintained and modernised a reference-data platform serving multiple downstream consumers in a regulated banking environment.
- Migrated VB6 / COM+ libraries to C# .NET 4.7.2 and moved WCF / ADO.NET services toward REST APIs using ASP.NET Core and Entity Framework.
- Created Oracle PL/SQL masking routines for privacy-safe development databases and supported controlled deployment processes.
- Built Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines with automated testing guards and Artifactory releases; documented critical deployments and negotiated requirements with clients.
- Mentored a junior developer in unit and integration testing and REST API implementation.
Abbotsford, Australia
- Designed and delivered front-end features across AngularJS and Angular 2-8 for multiple healthcare-technology products.
- Contributed to a multi-tenant security platform for user and identity management, collaborating closely with the chief architect.
- Delivered reusable user-experience capability across the product suite and was recognised internally for technical depth, precision and constructive team impact.
Australia • Part-time / contract
- Delivered five-day Microsoft-aligned courses for enterprise developers pursuing the 480-series certification pathway.
- Taught ASP.NET MVC, C#, WPF, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, converting dense technical material into practical, structured instruction.
Port Kembla, Australia • Contract
- Led UX design and implementation for a SharePoint / SSRS solution that consolidated occupational health and safety information.
- Supported application decommissioning, upgrade and migration during a wider infrastructure overhaul using ASP.NET, SQL Server, SSRS, DTS and SharePoint 2013.
AUTHORSHIP & PUBLICATION
Melbourne, Australia
- Authored and independently published the first edition in 2025 and a substantially expanded second edition in 2026 through Castalia Hermenikon; second-edition ISBN 978-1-7644241-0-3.
- Developed Quartonic Harmony, an original four-tone 1-3-5-7 framework that treats chords, arpeggios and scales as unified forms and reinterprets harmonic movement geometrically.
- Extended the second edition into a 120-plus-page system covering diatonic, diminished, whole-tone and non-diatonic harmony; improvisation and composition; tonic-space; algebraic symmetry; worked analyses; exercises; and a formal glossary.
- Managed the complete publication cycle: research, writing, diagrammatic pedagogy, revision, typesetting, cover and interior design, ISBN metadata and print-on-demand release.
INDEPENDENT PHILOSOPHICAL RESEARCH
Independent research across analytical and Continental philosophy, centred on epistemology, logic, language, metaphor, interpretation, mind, ethics and dialectics. The governing project, Analytical Hermeneutics, joins analytical clarity to hermeneutic depth while treating interpretation as structurally internal to knowledge rather than an afterthought.
- Maintains a public portfolio on Academia.edu comprising philosophical papers and working drafts, clearly presented as independent scholarship.
- Selected works: A Coherence Theory of Truth; Tractatus Conceptuum: Meaning in Superposition; Metaphor in Analytical Hermeneutics; The Self in Analytical Hermeneutics; Woman, Time, Language; and Atheism and Meaning.
- Earlier master’s research brought Hans-Georg Gadamer and Donald Davidson into dialogue on metaphor, interpretation, truth, epistemology and mind.
SELECTED PUBLIC TECHNICAL WORK
- Geo Synapse: designed and published an MIT-licensed dark theme for Visual Studio; more than 2,900 installs on the Visual Studio Marketplace as of July 2026.
